Interaction in Fire Protection

Premier Product
Our products offer the complete package of fire protection, aesthetics and durability expected of today’s construction industry. From 30 minutes to three hours fire protection, hollow section or universal column, prestige hallways or North Atlantic, Interact Fire Solutions provides a highly robust yet beautiful suite of fire protective casings.
Premier Service
Interact’s commitment to fire protection doesn't start or end with great product. Our solutions incorporate guidance from the specification process to offering a range of approved installers and onsite training for subcontractors new to our product. At all stages we interact with key personnel to guarantee quality, delivery and absolute satisfaction.
Superior and Affordable
Thanks to Interact’s manufacturing innovations and engineering excellence, our flexibility and commitment to the client guarantee that prices remain competitive no matter what the requirement. Unlike other fire protection systems, this low cost continues through the life of the building as ongoing maintenance costs are virtually zero.
We are the best
A proud boast indeed, and we fully accept our competitors may be able to offer any one of the above at high levels. Interact, however, have invested in personnel and processes capable of delivering product and service at a quality and price that no-one else comes close to matching.
Epoxy Intumescent—Form and Function
One of the secrets behind Interact’s superior and versatile product is the material from which they are cast, a material known as epoxy intumescent. The epoxy component provides the toughness and durability which allows our casings to be used in the harshest of environments, whilst being moldable to meet the aesthetic requirements of the most prestigious of locations, to blend in or stand out and to accept a range of finishes to suit the environment without compromising the architectural intent.
The epoxy medium also carries the intumescent components, the chemicals which undergo the reactions to form the fire protective barrier.
At a certain temperature, the intumescent agents react to release gases. Simultaneously, under heat stress, the rigid epoxy matrix begins to break down and the material softens. This allows the gas to expand, causing bubbles to form within the more viscous epoxy medium. Because the gases expand, so does the epoxy, thereby increasing the thickness of the material surrounding the steel. The remaining chemicals then recombine and solidify, encapsulating the gas bubbles in a thick, low density meringue called a char. This thick layer of insulating char prevents a large proportion of the heat from reaching the steel. At 550ºC, the steel will no longer have load bearing capabilities, and the structure will collapse. Up to a certain point, the thickness of the original casting will determine how long the char is able to insulate—up to three hours for products supplied by Interact Fire Solutions.
Quality—At Every Step
Interact Fire Solutions realise that quality is not only key to its own survival but to that of its end users too—supply of faulty goods can result in loss of life, not just credibility. Therefore Interact have used their combined engineering and production experience to guarantee products of the highest quality, with our assurance that products which reach the customer will not fail.

Interact know that quality is paramount across the entire supply chain. This is reflected in our careful vetting of all our suppliers, who must be a minimum of ISO9000 accredited.
Our manufacturing processes have been designed with simplicity in mind. This is the best way to eliminate the chance for errors and faults to enter the system, thus guaranteeing quality product and keeping costs down at all times. Key stages of manufacturing are monitored and regular meetings ensure that everybody involved in the manufacture is kept up to date.
This promise is just as important regarding the installation process. Although quick and easy to install and decorate, Interact will only release its product for installation by approved installers, of which we have a rapidly growing list. Interact provides in-house and onsite training for installers wishing to become Interact approved.
Approved Installers Only

Interactfire solutions
All cast epoxy intumescent products from Interact are installed by highly trained craftsmen with an eye for decorative detail. Wherever possible, they will be FIRAS approved personnel. The inherent robustness of the product allows for installation to take place at any point in the construction process—from initial development to just prior to commissioning. This is vital for quality purposes, as dry conditions must prevail at the time of installation. On-going work on site is overseen by the Interact management team who liaise directly with contractors and subcontractors to eliminate any possible problems.
All Interact Fire Solutions systems have been tested to BS476 parts 20 & 21, using fully loaded production specimens. They have been tested to 3180 minutes fire protection in BS476 approved laboratories.
