Interact Fire Solutions Secures Ten Columns in Dublin

When it came to the external columns on the ground floor of International House in Dublin, Ireland, Frank Hughes of Forrest Hill Architects insisted that Interactive Columns be specified in spite of great financial pressure to do otherwise. In fact if Mr Hughes had had his way all the 74 columns, both internal and external, would be in Interact Fire Solutions’ highly durable and aesthetically superior systems.

Interact’s products are manufactured from International Paint’s Interchar 212. Once installed the material is totally impervious to any conditions the prevailing climate can throw at the system. Epoxy intumescent is completely weather proof and very easy to maintain. Unlike many competitive products it does not depend on the top coat to maintain the integrity of the system below. In fact the top coat is for aesthetic reasons only, allowing any number of surface coatings to be used.

International House is the third Dublin project to receive Interactive Columns. Harvey Nichols at the Dumdrum Shopping Centre and the offices attached have received Interact’s casings. There were also a number of column casings supplied to Molex near Shannon Airport.

There are seven Interactive Columns (direct fixing) and three Interactive Casings (secondary cladding) being used for the ground floor and penthouse of the  International House development.   Interactive Secondary Cladding Casings were specified because the client did not want the problems of integrity associated with other secondary cladding systems (see www.interactfire.co.uk and select presentations) highlighted in a recent ASFP (Association of Specialist Fire Protection) guidelines which advises of the dangers caused by secondary cladding systems and featured in an articles in both the UK and Ireland.

Invitations will go out to all the major architects who can see for themselves the installation and superb finish achieved by the highly professional team of installers from Fireseal Contracts in Dublin.
