1. IDENTIFICATION OF PREPARATION

Type of Product: Pack A: Highly filled paste, based on solventless liquid epoxy resin. Used as an intumescent fire protective coating by mixing with curing agent, Pack B. Pack B: Viscous liquid based on solventless polyaminoamide resin with added fillers.

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Pack A: Pack B:
Irritating to eyes and skin. Causes burns.
May cause sensitisation by skin contact. May cause sensitisation by skin contact.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air. In case of irritation to respiratory system or mucous membranes, if you feel unwell, or in case of prolonged exposure, seek medical attention.

Skin Contact: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Do not use organic solvents. Eye Contact: Rinse immediately with water for at least 10 minutes. In case of continued eye irritation, seek medical attention. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Keep at rest and obtain immediate medical attention.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Suitable Extinguishing Media: Water mist, CO2 , Foam, Dry Powder. Do NOT use: High-pressure water jet. Exposure Hazards: Avoid inhalation of smoke or fumes. Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface water. Dispose of contamination as described in Section 13.

 

6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Personal Precautions: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Environmental Precautions: Prevent contamination of soil, drains and surface water.

Method for Disposal: Mix liquids with an absorbent, inert material such as sand, earth or vermiculite. Pack in closable metal containers for disposal.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling: Irritant, sensitising, and Pack B causes burns. Avoid skin contact, or formation of vapour or duct clouds. Ensure good ventilation and local exhaust. Do not eat, drink or smoke at the workplace.

Storage: Store unmixed packs in original containers, securely closed and at room temperature. Keep warm, if required, at 15°C-20°C.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Exposure Control Limits: None for the uncured materials. Dust resulting from machining operations is subject to limits of 10mg/m³ (total dust), 5mg/m³ (respirable dust).

Respiratory Protection: Wear suitable absorbent mask/respirator if exposed to vapour, spray mist or dust.

Hand Protection: Wear suitable gloves.

Eye Protection: Wear suitable goggles or face mask.

Skin Protection: Wear overalls and closed footwear.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

Thermal decomposition:

Pack A: Boils above 100°C evolving water vapour.
Above 200°C, slow fume Evolution.
Pack B: Boils above 150°C evolving fumes.

Conditions to avoid: Static discharges, if being used with flammable solvents.

Materials to avoid: Strong acids and bases, oxidising agents.

Decomposition products: Thermal decomposition or burning produces oxides of carbon and may release harmful gases, vapours or smoke.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Not tested on this preparation. All ingredients are listed in EINECS, and the products are considered irritant (Pack A) or corrosive (Pack B) based on the concentrations of these ingredients. The products can have an irritating effect on all body tissues and Pack B can cause burns. Sensitisation can occur in some cases.

13. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Not tested on the preparation. The product should not be allowed to enter drains or watercourses, nor disposed of by unauthorised means.

14. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Liquid waste, including empty containers, is controlled waste and should be disposed of in accordance with provisions of the Control of Pollution Act 1974 (amendments 1980/1989) and the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (amendments 1991/1992). Information on this data sheet will enable local authorities or specialist contractors to advise on correct procedures. Empty containers may often be put in general industrial waste, by prior agreement with the local authority.
