Run a saw down the heavily scored grooves—running down opposing sides of the casting. |
Remove the outer liner |
The inner liner must be cut in half |
||
Ease the inner core out of the casting. There are small staples inside which will ease out of the cardboard. The staples should be turned over or cut off. |

Where cleats and obstructions form part of
the column, present the casting to the column and mark off for
cutting. Do this before applying adhesive. |
Strike a line on the column at 50, 150, 450,
550, 850 and 950 mm. |

Apply a 2 mm layer of adhesive evenly to the inside of the shell using a pointing trowel followed by a serrated tile trowel. |
Present the coated pair of castings to the column ensuring they are positioned correctly. |
||
Place the clamping straps at intervals
corresponding to the tie wire around the column. This will ensure

Allow to cure for at
least one week, subject to weather conditions (like all secondary
coatings, the adhesive will be damaged by the ingress of water until
it has cured). |
Fill all gaps and grooves with epoxy intumescent
adhesive. |
